The Meals Team is an outreach ministry to support our family within FBC, as well as extending Jesus’ love to our community.
Our Mission is to provide our church members and ministries with assistance they may need when it comes to food, as well as reaching individuals or families outside our church. We do not have meetings, rather we are a list of people who receive updates on various meal requests via email and Facebook, and respond when the need fits our individual availability.
We are built of a team of individuals, male & female, young & old, cooks & non-cooks, that are willing to step-up and answer God’s call. Read about our ministry below and consider joining TODAY!
Things We Do — Ways You Can Be Involved!
(Meals Team members will be notified about needs in each of these projects.)
If someone has experienced a death in the family, the birth of a child, or just needs a little help providing meals for their family, they may request short-term meal assistance. Our goal when serving someone in this capacity is to provide them with three to four meals a week for a two-week period. Meals are delivered to the home, or sometimes dropped off in the kitchen at church. If you are leaving a meal at FBC, please be sure to label the items with the first name and last initial of the recipient and coordinate who is picking up the meal. And don’t feel like this has to be a home cooked meal— recipients always welcome pizza or subs too! The goal is to alleviate the stress for the family of trying to figuring out what to eat that night.
If you or someone you know is experiencing financial difficulty, you may request short term assistance with groceries. Our team will provide you with gift certificates to a local grocery store and/or recruit volunteers to donate groceries or personal needs items. We’ll assess the needs of each request on a case by case basis.
In the event that a need for assistance with funeral arrangements arises, our team will help in any way possible. From providing a full meal, to an assortment of desserts, or even just a clean-up crew—this assistance will also be assessed on a case by case basis.
FBC Ministry Assistance
Our team will take requests from various activities or ministries at FBC for assistance with food needs. We are 100% volunteer-based, so there is no guarantee that we can meet these requests, but we will do our best. For example, we could provide side dishes for a ministry get together, collect snacks & drinks for a children’s program, or bring our hungry Joshua Tree volunteers a meal while they helping others. Our goal is to relieve some of the stress and financial burden of providing and coordinating food for those who are already serving in our church.

This is an exciting project as part of the Meal Team because we can help support those who put in so much time at the church for us. Our staffers & volunteers spend so many hours at the church! The goal of this project is to show them our appreciation for their hard work and to let them know we are always grateful for them by assisting them in a small way with food during the times they may need it for themselves. This is a way we can support the foundation of FBC!
There are two parts to this project:
– Cupboard –
Our team will stock one cabinet in the kitchen at church with various snack items, such as soup, easy mac, granola bars, oatmeal, chips, and other munchies for all volunteers. Items placed in the refrigerator and freezer are labeled with “Meals Team, Staff/Volunteers” stickers so that they are not confused with actual lunches staffers may bring in.
– Sunday Snacks –
Every now and then we will host a Sunday Snack. Our team will sign-up to bring in snacks for the speaker, band, and other volunteers who spend a large amount of time at church on Sundays. The food is placed in the kitchen is labeled with a “Meals Team, Staff/Volunteers” sticker. Sunday volunteers are encouraged to help themselves whenever they have a break. It is a great way to refuel and meet others who are serving in different ministries throughout the church on Sunday.
How Being a Part of Our Team Works
There will be No Meetings! All requests will be sent through email & Facebook for all of the Team Projects, and you respond when the need fits your individual availability.
If you are able to provide a meal at that time, all you do is click on the link included in the message & sign-up for the day that works for you. You will then just need to contact the individual to arrange drop-off time for your day. It can also be arranged sometimes that you drop the meal off at church and the recipient can pick it up. You can provide a home cooked meal, or if there’s not time a take-out meal works too.
There’s no obligation for you to provide a meal for every need that goes out. It’s so Easy!!

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?
